Hourigan Construction; Bell was the Mechanical and Plumbing Design-Assist subcontractor on this $320 million UVA Hospital Expansion Project for a new 460,000+ SF 13-story tower. The project included a new emergency department, 16 Operating and Interventional Procedure Rooms, support departments, and six (6) floors of Intensive Care and Acute Care patient units.

Bell was awarded the Mechanical and Plumbing Design-Assist subcontract on VCU’s new 18-story, 604,000 SF Adult Outpatient Pavilion and connected 475,000 SF parking deck. The effort entailed design development and construction of the facility’s mechanical and plumbing systems. Owner goals included flexible MEP systems that can support future expansions and relocations without disruption to adjacent areas. The project was required to achieve LEED Silver certification.

During the Design-Assist phase, Bell provided budgeting at the 100% Schematic Design, 100% Preliminary Design, 50% and 95% Construction Document Levels including: Budget Management (Scope Growth Control, Value Management Recommendations and Pricing); Constructability Reviews; Specification Change Recommendations; and Collaborative BIM reviews with model improvements.
